Mr. Snickets

Mr. Snickets is "under construction", and is another emerging character that I had no idea that he was coming forth, nevertheless...here he is.  To me he looks like a General  store owner, kind-hearted and is adored by all the town children!  He manages to slip all the kids a free candy while the mothers are turned away doing there shopping!

Jovial Gypsy Dancer

"Jovial Gypsy Dancer" is carefree and in progress. I have finished her head and am currently working on her hands. Her head hands and feet will be sculpted from polymer clay. Her body will be a combination of sturdy wire armature and soft body sculpture.

I like making sculptures that make people laugh. When I was making her face, I realized that she was going to be disgustingly cute. She doesn't have a thought that she isn't the most beautiful creature. She thinks she is and she loves dancing in the streets in her little gypsy community.

Bertha is my grandmother who lived to be 88 years old and was one of the kindest women I've ever known. I had no intention of sculpting my grandmother, but as I worked with the clay, her face emerged... bringing back sweet memories of watching her sit on the front porch in her rocking chair as she snapped green beans and told stories. When I look in her face, its as if she is remembering times past.

"Bean-snapping" Bertha is still a work in progress. Check back to see how she is coming along!
